Leaving from your accomodation we will pass through the ancient road Cassia(ss2), direction South. Passed Buonconvento we will start to climb towards Montalcino(placed at more than 500 m above sea level). By then we will be in the production area of one of the world’s most famous wines: the Brunello di Montalcino. During this tour you will admire the incredible landscapes,the Val d’ Orcia ,the olive groves and the vineyards standing on enchanted hills and you can visit the village of Montalcino: a jewel of history and medieval architecture.Going on with the tour, it will be a pleasure for us to take you to discover one of the most important new realities for the production of Brunelli: Poggio Rubino
This relatively young(family owned) winery is working hard and with success to get a space amongst more than 250 Brunello producers. After the visit of their wine cellar (with an English speaking guide) you will finally taste the wines:the Brunello,the less aged Rosso and other productions of the winery(like the excellent olive oil). After a short visit of the S. Antimo abbey, one of the most important and powerful of the middleages, the tour will end with another wine tasting, not less valuable than the other one. In the direction of S.Angelo(a spectacular village at the top of a hill)we will stop in another family owned little winery. The Brunello here is of top quality(the philosophy of the producers is quality not quantity…).
Otherwise at the winery you will taste the Extra Virgin Olive oil produced by the family every year.
We can also organize on request a delicious typical lunch at one of the winery visited during the day.
