Full day
Leaving from your accomodation driving towards Florence our first stop will be the Monteriggioni castle.Built in the XIII century it’s a spectacular example of a medieval village with its walls surrounding the buildings and the 14 guard towers. Leaving the valley we will start to climb towards Castellina in Chianti and we will reach probably the most famous wine production area in Italy: The Chianti Classico. Here between olive groves, little forests and farm houses take form miles and miles of vineyards that, create an amazing landscape, and are the source of wealth for this land. Placed between Siena and Florence Chianti is an hilly area with proper borders and only here is it possible to produce and sell the Chianti Classico D.O.C.G.
After a short visit of Castellina in Chianti we will stop in a small family owned winery named Il Poggiarello for our first Chianti Classico wine tasting(with an english guided tour of the cellar).Later the family will serve also a light lunch to have a better taste of the wines.Later we will go on with the tour driving towards Panzano in Chianti(always surrounded by an incredible nature) where we will stop to have a visit of the town center.
Also here the Middleage left its impressions as you can see looking at the walls and at the fortress that embrace the buildings.Driving a few kms from Panzano is located Castello di Monterinaldi and we will stop here for the second wine tasting. They will receive us to give you an unforgettable experience(a tasting of many products including Chianti Classico,Olive oil,a Supertuscan wine, the famous Vinsanto and for the strongest palates the Grappa(a traditional licor distilled from the skins of the grapes).
What can I say…
…something to try out!
We can also organize on request a delicious typical lunch at one of the winery visited during the day.
